Community Council Coordinator (Remote-TX) (Finance)

Summary:

The Community Council Coordinator plays a pivotal role in organizing, facilitating, and supporting community councils across designated regions. This position helps advance the Board of Directors' community outreach initiatives by building and strengthening relationships, fostering engagement, and supporting community transformation efforts.

Key responsibilities include facilitating community council meetings and supporting strategic initiatives. Engaging and mobilizing community members to participate in advocacy and leadership efforts. Identifying and developing potential community leaders to strengthen grassroots engagement. Ensuring alignment between community needs and MHM's broader health equity goals. The ideal candidate is passionate about community development, health equity, and grassroots organizing, with excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with diverse, multicultural communities.

Salary:

Annual salary rate begins at $58,810. Mid range at $73,513. Actual starting rate will be commensurate with experience and education

Essential Duties:

  • Identify and recruit community members, leaders, and stakeholders to participate in councils.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies to foster diverse representation.
  • Support the facilitation of council meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes.
  • Foster an environment where all community voices are heard and respected.
  • Work closely with internal departments and external partners to ensure alignment between community initiatives and MHM's strategic objectives.
  • Assist in assessing the impact of community council activities and provide reports on progress and areas for improvement.
  • Develop strong partnerships with organizations, stakeholders, and grassroots groups.
  • Support community-led advocacy efforts that address health and social inequities.
  • Mediate and resolve conflicts within community councils or among members when needed.
  • Act as a liaison between community councils and MHM leadership, ensuring community concerns and recommendations are effectively communicated.

Qualifications:
  • Strong ability to connect, engage, and mobilize diverse community members.
  • Experience building partnerships and collaborating with grassroots organizations.
  • Ability to inspire and empower community leaders to take action.
  • Understanding of social determinants of health, health equity principles and community organizing.
  • Familiarity with barriers affecting marginalized communities.
  • Must have experience in facilitating meetings, building relationships, and mobilizing groups.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in public speaking, meeting facilitation, and storytelling to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in event planning, program coordination, and project management. planning and coordinating events.
Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in human services, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field is preferred.

A minimum of three years of experience in community engagement, advocacy, or related work. Must have experience in facilitating meetings, building relationships, and mobilizing groups for action is required.

Strong ability to manage multiple projects efficiently. Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, community building, and conflict mediation skills. Experience working with marginalized populations and addressing health and social inequities. Preference for candidates with experience in community organizing and working with grassroots organizations.

Language Skills:

Strong verbal, written, and organizational. Must be able to speak effectively and respond to questions from community members, leaders, and employees of an organization (diverse audiences). Must be fluent in English. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is highly preferred.

Reasoning Ability:

Forward-thinking and strategic problem solver, able to navigate complex challenges in real time. Strong ability to interpret and apply written, oral, and diagram-based instructions. Capable of managing diverse stakeholder input while maintaining a big-picture perspective. Skilled in building consensus and engaging stakeholders from different backgrounds.

Computer Skills:

Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to use virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, MS Teams) for remote collaboration. Ability to develop reports, presentations and tracking documents.

Other:

Ability to adjust to changing priorities, objectives, and situations.

Ability to assess social, economic, cultural and political issues affecting communities. Ability to strengthen both internal and external community partnerships. Awareness of the roles and contributions of different community sectors. Must have a valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation.

Position necessitates bending, stooping, twisting, turning, walking, climbing step stools, sitting and standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 25 pounds.

This position is primarily hybrid, with remote work as the primary location and regular travel required within the assigned regions. Travel may include community council meetings, site visits, board engagements, and partner collaborations. The role requires up to 75% travel, including overnight stays as needed. Apply
