LOGISTICS/ASST TRANS OPERATIONS MGR (Finance)
Assist the Kroger Transportation Center (KTC) managers as directed. Assist in managing flow of inbound and outbound freight and ensuring timely delivery and reduction of expenses. Ensure timely delivery of product at a competitive cost via carrier partners. Report operational metrics (i.e., on-time service and reduction of overall transportation expenses). Communicate clear expectations and establish a sense of urgency by acting decisively and solving problems. Support and assist KTC and affiliated divisions. - 2+ years of experience leading and managing a team of transportation professionals with proven results
- Knowledge of motor carrier operations, store operations, and warehouse operations
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work off scheduled hours inclusive of weekends, nights, and holidays
- Understanding of financials, statistics, budgeting, Lean and Six Sigma and reporting
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex operational issues
Desired
- Bachelor's Degree
- Any experience in ensuring associates and location meet legal compliance and regulation applicable to the company
- Any experience in Kroger warehouse shipping/receiving, supply chain, and general freight hauling, DSD and backhauling transportation operations
- 2+ years of experience in Kroger Transportation Center Operations or similar operation
- Proficiency with Kroger Transportation Management (TMS) and Routing Systems, Procurement and web applications
- Knowledge of buyer/procurement practices and supplier relationships- Assist in managing the KTC operations
- Assist in providing a complete and efficient store delivery route plan
- Implement supply chain process and store delivery performance improvement initiatives (i.e., cross-docking, adjusting delivery schedules and delivery windows)
- Develop, plan, and execute backhaul opportunities, network freight moves
- Assist in third-party providers on all freight issues
- Collaborate with distribution operations to improve inbound delivery and backhaul plan
- Update and maintain various transportation management systems used in the KTC
- Report and publish accurate performance metrics (i.e., period activity, carrier performance and backhaul revenue)
- Communicate with customers of the KTC (i.e., SCM, procurement, transportation providers, DCs and suppliers)
- Travel to Kroger locations across the U.S. for relevant stakeholder interface
- Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
