Instructor/Supervisor, Maintenance of Way - Light Rail (Construction)

Prepares and provides technical training instruction on Maintenance of Way equipment and related maintenance practices and creates and maintains a Quality Assurance program for LRT maintenance equipment and systems. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the RTD Drug & Alcohol Policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures.  Conducts performance review and holds employees accountable for performance of their responsibilities.
  • Develops standards and procedures that integrate maintenance training and quality assurance and administers and monitors the Maintenance Certification/Recertification Programs.
    Conducts new employee familiarization and safety programs and provides technical training and technical expertise assistance to the Maintenance and Transportation divisions.
  • Designs, reviews and conducts specialized technical training courses on LRV and MOW equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Maintains maintenance reference library with the latest revised manuals and procedures and prepares maintenance bulletins describing technical information and procedures.
  • Prepares troubleshooting and operating procedures on specialized and testing equipment.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in electrical technology, electrical/mechanical or related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience coordinating and revising electrical/mechanical training.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in electrical and mechanical concepts and technology, and electrical technology from microprocessors to high voltage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in technical employee training.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License continually for the past two (2) years or ability to obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of hire. 
  • Must possess a Colorado Commercial Driver License 'B' or ability to obtain one with an acceptable motor vehicle report. No DWI, DUI or reckless driving in the past five (5) years.
  • Proficiency in maintenance and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in Quality Assurance program implementation and maintenance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means.
  • Ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, moving trains; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; explosives and risk of radiation.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Pay Range:

$84,407.00 - $119,224.25 Annual

RTD posts a compensation range that represents a good faith estimate of what RTD anticipates paying for the position at the time of posting.  Starting salary is based on the candidate's relevant and verified education, training and work experience.  Applicants should submit all relevant and verifiable education, training and work experiences at the time of application.
