Job Description
PURPOSE SUMMARY. Under direct supervision of the Community Outreach Coordinator with support from the Outreach Specialist II, the Community Outreach Promotora/Promotor is responsible to manage the operations of community resource centers within an assigned area. This role includes the promotion of Health and Human Services program activities delivered at the community resource centers. The Community Outreach Promotora/Promotor will collaborate with staff and agencies to deliver educational and recreational activities for people of all ages in a safe and welcoming environment.

QUALIFICATIONS.
A. Education. High School Diploma or GED.
B. Experience. Six (6) years' full -time experience in outreach and community mobilization activities, program planning, or community organizing. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.
C. Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County policy.
D. Licenses/Certifications. Must have a valid driver's license. Must maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with County policy. Must have or be able to obtain a Community Health Worker certification within six (6) months of hire.
E. Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver's license record, etc.). Must pass background and driver's license check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
Must have knowledge of: Doña Ana County colonias, villages and overall population and community resources and networks including a demonstrated understanding of the ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status and life experiences of populations in those communities; activities related to the development of families, youth engagement; culturally appropriate community-based education methods; and organizational and consensus building skills.
Must have skills to: Operate general office and computer equipment and using software including Microsoft Office Word; maintain accurate records; facilitate focus groups or classes; promote and organize meetings and classes.
Must have ability to: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish; develop collaborative partnerships, utilize referral networks within local health care system, maintain confidentiality, and motivate people to engage in healthy behaviors.
Compensation Range
$19.59 - $29.39
