Environmental, Health & Safety Manager - MD (Finance)

Compensation for this role: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00, commensurate with expeirence

On-site - Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of TGC-MD's environmental, health, and safety programs. This role ensures regulatory compliance, fosters a proactive safety culture, and supports operational excellence through the prevention of workplace injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents. The EHS Manager will also be responsible for all environmental reporting requirements, including federal, state, and local submissions, ensuring full compliance and timely documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Champion a proactive safety culture by promoting safety awareness, accountability, and leadership at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure safety practices are being followed.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate and deliver training programs to employees, supervisors, and management on safety policies, procedures, emergency response, and regulatory compliance.
  • Track and analyze safety metrics and trends and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters, including workers' compensation and industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Maintain responsibility for all environmental regulatory reporting, including but not limited to: Tier II, TRI/Form R, SPCC, Stormwater, Air Permits, Waste Management, and NPDES permits.
  • Monitor and manage compliance with all applicable environmental regulations (EPA, state DEQ, local ordinances), permits, and company standards.
  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs, including proper labeling, storage, handling, and disposal.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and respond to inspections, inquiries, and correspondence as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all environmental programs and reporting requirements.
  • Act as an internal consultant and advisor to management and employees on EHS-related matters.
  • Lead and/or participate in safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with other departments (operations, engineering, maintenance, HR) to integrate EHS priorities into broader business strategies.
  • Promote employee engagement and recognition in safety initiatives.
  • Work in a safe manner following all departmental and plant safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or certifications (CSP, CHMM, CIH) a plus. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in EHS roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state/local EHS regulations.
  • Proven experience with regulatory reporting and environmental permit management.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to influence others, drive cultural change, and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Must have English reading, writing and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, write, understand and communicate the company's operating procedures and policies.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
