Mountain Access Supervisor (Personal Services)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Responsible to report to work in appropriate uniform and follow grooming/appearance standards, setting a good example and high standard for other team members.
2. Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of a Mountain Access Attendant and Mountain Access Lead as dictated by staffing needs.
3. Consistently deliver high-quality guest service, presentation and cleanliness in all phases of Mountain Access.
4. Assists Lift Operations & Access Managers with hiring, motivating, evaluating and directing staff to ensure safe and efficient ticket checking operations. Provide Mountain Access department employees with training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary to complete their work assignments.
5. Lead and assist the Mountain Access Attendants and Leads in the successful completion of their job duties. Provide coaching, training and guidance as required and requested. Fulfill all duties of direct reports as needed.
6. Lead and conduct pre-season and in-season training of Mountain Access staff utilizing department training programs and resources. Participate in updating and revising training materials as needed.
7. Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing ongoing coaching and training to ensure peak performance of staff.
8. Establish, update and communicate weekly work schedules to Mountain Access staff. Facilitate shift change approvals.
9. Assist IT personnel to troubleshoot and repair RFID gates and computer hardware as needed.
10. Utilize good judgement and strong safety sense while skiing and/or snowboarding to all lift stations at the resort. Must be able to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level or above.
11. Safely access work stations during the early morning hours in dark or low-light conditions while snow grooming and morning mountain patrol activities are taking place.
12. Constantly monitor assigned two-way radio channels to promptly respond to calls and monitor potential work locations needing supervisor assistance.
13. Ensure Mountain Access staff are conducting their work in a safe manner and correct unsafe behavior with additional training and coaching.
14. Maintain a strong understanding of department policies and procedures to guide daily decision-making. Involve the managers to make decisions as needed.
15. Conducts daily responsibilities independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong and frequent communication with Lift Operations & Access Managers.
16. Communicate equipment maintenance needs to the IT department and coordinate troubleshooting and repairs.
17. Establish a strong working relationship with other support departments including Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Snow Grooming, Activity Center and Ticket sales, Product Development, IT and others.
18. Ensure that all mechanical components of RFID gates are functioning properly by checking and performing routine inspections and notifying supervisors of any abnormalities.
19. Remove and maintain snow surfaces around lift mazes and RFID gates utilizing a variety of hand and power tools. Common tools include shovels, scoops, rakes, ice picks, pickaxes, power drills, snowblowers, etc.
20. Monitor lane-watch tablet PCs to screen potential fraudulent ticket use and prevent guests from accessing lifts without valid tickets or passes.
21. Identify guests who are experiencing difficulty passing through an access gate, greet the guest and provide basic troubleshooting to determine if the guest has a valid ticket or pass.
22. Gain and use an understanding of different ticket and pass product types and potential problems with each type of ticket.
23. Learn the common fault indications of the RFID gates and follow established procedures to perform basic troubleshooting and repair.
24. Interact with guests to answer questions, communicate mountain announcements, and provide positive guest interactions.
25. Refuse lift access to guests who do not have a valid lift ticket or pass. Confiscate pass media from guests who are using it fraudulently.
26. Conduct lift ticket fraud investigations.
27. Conduct lift maze traffic controlling as skier volume dictates. Ensure orderly and fair lift line flow is established and maintained.
28. Continuously monitor the flow of guests through RFID gate lanes and promptly respond to guests who need assistance or to potential equipment failures.
29. Reposition RFID gantries to conduct snow removal and grooming operations as needed.
30. Perform closing duties by storing maze materials and signs, stowing gantries in their nighttime position, completing daily report logs, and any other closing duties assigned.
31. Provide superior service to our guests and fellow employees by greeting, interacting, answering questions and providing resort information.
32. Respond to all guests and employees in a courteous manner and professional manner.
33. Positively contributes to the team effort by assisting other staff as needed.
34. Participate in incident investigations by filling out incident reports.
35. Complete required paperwork to document guest issues, ticketing problem reports, bad-pass payout logs, etc.
36. Perform other tasks as assigned.
37. Remain flexible with work location assignments, hours, and tasks depending on business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
1. Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resorts Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
5. Skis within ability level, taking safe and direct routes of travel. Follows Skiers Responsibility Code.
6. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
7. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides daily leadership, guidance and assistance to an assigned Mountain Access team consisting of 8-12 Mountain Access Attendants and Leads across all work areas. Responsible for daily work assignment and performance monitoring of Mountain Access department staff.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or GED required. Previous supervisory or leadership experience required. Intermediate skiing/riding ability required. Previous experience with Lift Operations or Ticket Checking/sales desirable. Experience with RTP or Axess RFID hardware desirable. Minimum 21 years of age.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
High level of communication with coworkers and resort guests. Greet customers congenially and answer various questions about ski trails, weather and snow conditions, lift schedules and riding time, and general information about the resort and area. Read and understand manuals, safety signs, machinery control labels, warning placards and indicator panels as printed.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to read, understand and abide by policies, procedures, and training material. Must be able to make decisions within established parameters, seeking guidance from more experienced or supervisory staff when needed, and react quickly to emergency situations.
Must be able to work with a high level of independence while following established department procedures and keeping managers informed of work tasks and needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee will work outside regularly in all weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work environment includes noise from Motor Rooms of lifts, off-road vehicles and machinery working in the area.
