Senior Civil Engineer - Longmont, CO (Finance)

Your Role:

We are seeking an energetic individual interested in pursuing and supporting a variety of challenging projects. The successful candidate will be asked to take the lead or strong support role as the Senior Civil Engineer on a variety of civil infrastructure design, site development, and construction oversight and review projects for commercial development, infrastructure, and industrial projects. The position will include duties such as:

  • Evaluation of existing undeveloped areas for potential development using infrastructure design and construction project criteria.
  • Preparation of grading and utility plans for land development projects.
  • Engineering design development.
  • Preparation of reports and technical memoranda.
  • Development of engineering cost estimates.
  • Development of bid specifications and contract documents.
  • Construction oversight.
  • Business development.
  • Strong problem solving, time management, and written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • The position may require some travel, typically related to construction oversight; business, project, and client development; and site reconnaissance.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering.
  • 25-30 years minimum of civil engineering experience.
  • PE required.
  • Education and career experience should include the following areas of civil engineering: municipal engineering, stormwater management, hydrologic/hydraulic evaluation, BMP and infrastructure design and construction oversight, cost estimation, infrastructure code compliance, heavy earthwork construction, and working as Client's/Owner's representative for all aspects of projects.
  • Experience should include civil engineering, grading and drainage, and other engineering tasks related to site development including potable water delivery, sanitary sewer collection, storm drainage, transportation, land survey, permitting, utilities, and subsurface utility engineering.
  • Experience coordinating with utilities including electric, gas, and communications; determining compliance with Right-of-Way requirements for railroads, oil and gas companies, and others; negotiating compliance with irrigation ditch company requirements, and addressing concerns with wetlands and threatened or endangered species.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred with ability to quickly pick up proficiency in Civil 3D and other standard civil engineering programs that cover site grading, earthwork, street design, stormwater, sewer line design, and water line design.
  • Ability to perform and lead construction oversight at rural, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Demonstrated business development including active leads for future work.
  • Strong skills and proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft-based software, including MS Excel, for data analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to summarize engineering data and model outputs in concise, readable language.
  • MSHA and/or OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Target salary range: $100.00 / hour to $125.00 / hour. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
