Comm & Marketing Specialist (Finance)



Organizational Unit: USF World is led by a VP and is comprised of units across Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota devoted to promoting ed abroad; supporting international students and scholars, the management of international partnerships, international travel risk and security services, management of the Peace Corps Prep and support for a dedicated recruiter, tracking and documenting international research collaborations and the global footprint of faculty, students and staff, collection of data related to international activities at the University, international alumni development and outreach, and the marketing and communication of USF World programs and initiatives. Comprising a total of over 70 staff and a budget of approximately $4.5 M, clients are USF faculty developing international academic experiences, curriculum, and research collaborations, administrators promoting the global priorities of USF, staff responsible for supporting international activities across campuses, colleges, and other units, current and prospective students coming to USF from other countries and U.S. students seeking global experiences as well as university partners from abroad and foreign dignitaries. Community partners include local, state, national, and international leaders of government and public and private organizations, including other institutions of higher ed, military, business, and industry.

Position Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to successfully manage USF World's social media channels through high quality content, data analytics, and engagement to drive growth. The position will also design digital and print marketing and communications materials for USF World social media, monthly newsletter, and events including invitations, digital programs & flyers, signage, visual aids, presentations, and swag. Must possess the ability to incorporate high quality creative graphic images and designs while working within USF brand guidelines.

This position will also update materials previously designed and collect content for new collateral materials. The Marketing and Communication Specialist is highly skilled working in graphic design programs, specifically Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, to develop creative assets for posting on social media, on the website, and in print. The Specialist works with leadership and staff across USF World for marketing and communications materials, social media content, and overall branding and messaging consistency. The position may also be asked to collaborate on special projects and assignments as needed.Minimum Qualification: This position requires a High School diploma and 5 years of related experience, OR a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of directly related experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualification: Excellent social media and digital branding skills; Excellent graphic design creation in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, etc. Excellent in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); Experienced in posting and engaging on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Facebook, X).

Proficient writing and editing skills; Must have good time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments; Ability to communicate effectively.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.

  • Manage social media: Responsible for creating high quality content aimed at increasing engagement with ability to use data analytics. Manage USF World's social media channels, including organizing a content calendar, and coordinating social media amongst all USF World communications units. Will also create social media graphics and lead social media campaigns.
  • Design using InDesign: Develops high quality creative layouts, design and text for presentations, flyers, event support materials, brochures, marketing campaigns, swag, signage, website, and other communications collateral as needed.
  • Digital Marketing & Newsletter: Designs and lines up content for Bulls Run the World monthly newsletter and other digital marketing initiatives. Will include maintaining clean distribution lists, communicating with news feature subjects, promoting on social media, and maximizing reach.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting at USF World events.
