Director of Nursing Emergency Services (Finance)

The Nursing Director coordinates all aspects of Emergency Services in conjunction with the Chair of Emergency Medicine/or medical directors for each facility in order to maximize all components of the UC Health System. Uses advanced education, administrative and clinical knowledge and skills to fine innovative methods to enhance and improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the UC Health Emergency Services. The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for achieving a level of shared operational management between University of Cincinnati Medical Center (60%) and West Chester Hospital (40%). This position is also responsible for achieving a level of shared operational management between physicians and hospital departments by bringing together resources necessary to positively impact the delivery and continuum of patient care.Minimum Required: Master's Degree in Nursing. | Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. BLS. Certification in specialty area strongly preferred.| Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience.

  • Establishes effective networks with colleagues throughout the UC Health System and referral region including our outreach services to EMS agencies.
  • Assure progression toward defined quality outcomes, patient and family satisfaction, cost-effectiveness, and systems efficiency.
  • Serves as unifying and integrating force to achieve Emergency Service metrics and goals throughout the system.
  • Ensures institutional and system compliance with all regulatory requirements to maintain verification/accreditation status.
  • Develops the Emergency Services Strategic Plan in conjunction with the Chair of Emergency Medicine and all associated medical directors and system administration in support of UC Health's strategic plan.
  • Manages the Emergency Services staff through effective communication and allocation of resources, establishment and assessment of performance goals, and provision of educational opportunities for ongoing development.
  • Prepares and manages the Emergency Services budget in conjunction with institutional business managers.
  • Develops and monitors the performance improvement programs in conjunction with the medical directors and program managers. This includes data collection, analysis, trending, and maintenance of the committee structures supporting the programs.
  • Collaborates with the physicians and other health care professions to provide clinical and system oversight for the care of the patients in each service line. Ensuring provision of efficient, quality care that is cost effective.
  • Coordinates and oversees the development and implementation of the outreach EMS programs.
  • Direct the programs development, and participates in reviewing and approving the short and long range operating objectives and plans for areas of responsibility.
  • Oversee operational support needs: information services, telecommunications, facilities and space management, purchasing, personnel and development and implementation of manpower, planning, and management/development of programs to meet organization goals.
