Post Doctoral Fellow - Earth & Atmospheric Sciences (Finance)

1. Receives/Reviews progress and evaluates results of experiments or projects under control or supervisory responsibility.

4. May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
5. May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
6. Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
7. May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations. 8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Houston is seeking a postdoctoral researcher who would further develop their skills in the acquisition and interpretation of isotope data and advance their leadership and management experience.

The candidate is expected to:

• Apply clean-lab chemical preparation and thermal-ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) techniques to the measurement of stable and radiogenic isotope ratios across a wide variety of natural and experimental samples and
• Apply geochemical modelling techniques to the processing and interpretation of existing isotopic data.
• Lead in the development and submission of high-quality research manuscripts and develop competitive grant-writing skills through the submission of grant applications to Federal agencies.
• Engage in the scientific community through the presentation of research results at universities and national/ international conferences.
• Assist the PI in mentoring/training of graduate students and in the leadership and management of the TIMS lab and related facilities.
The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a team led by assistant professor and TIMS lab director Dr. Michael A. Antonelli and supported for a period of up to two years (with possible extensions contingent on additional funds obtained by the PI and/or postdoctoral researcher).

Required Qualifications
• Ph.D. degree in Earth Science (or related field)
• Record of high-quality publications in reputable journals (at least 2 first-author publications)
• Experience with numerical simulations and/or geochemical modelling software
• Advanced knowledge of isotope geochemistry and/or related field
• High proficiency in English (C2 equivalence, both written & oral)
The candidate should (1) have a PhD degree in geochemistry or a closely related discipline, (2) demonstrated excellence in research through publications in scientific journals, (3) have strong analytical and computational skills, and (4) have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
