Preventative Maintenance Technician (Maintenance)

A Brief Overview

The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of production equipment and systems by executing regular cleaning, sanitization, and maintenance tasks. This role involves leading efforts to prevent biofilm in equipment, tanks and appurtenances, conduct sanitization validations, and ensure compliance with sanitization protocols in collaboration with the Compounding and Production teams. The technician will also manage inventory, maintain accurate documentation, and mentor new staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and operational efficiency.

What you will do
•    Lead the execution of biofilm prevention/removal, cleaning, and sanitization tasks in conjunction with the Compounding and Production teams. Follow detailed preventative plans for activities such as Biofilm prevention/Removal, 90°C Purified Water Sanitization, Passivation, and Chlorine Sanitization. Ensure the effectiveness and compliance of sanitization activities by conducting validations.
•    Exhibit mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment as necessary. Ensure equipment is in optimal condition and properly maintained to prevent downtime and support production efficiency.
•    Strategically plan and schedule activities to ensure alignment with production and compounding schedules. Coordinate cleaning tasks to minimize disruption to ongoing production processes.
•    Maintain and update comprehensive cleaning logbooks and documentation. Manage and analyze spreadsheet data to track cleaning activities, maintenance schedules, and inventory levels. Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and operational standards by maintaining accurate records.
•    Organize and maintain supplies and equipment inventory, ensuring readiness for scheduled cleaning operations. Monitor stock levels and place orders for necessary materials to avoid shortages or disruptions.
•    Mentor and guide new personnel, providing hands-on demonstrations and instructional support. Educate staff on proper cleaning techniques, SOP compliance, and safety protocols.
•    Foster effective communication with all levels of staff and management. Promote teamwork and a positive work environment, ensuring the collaboration of different teams toward common goals.
•    Adhere to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) guidelines and ensure the correct application of safety protocols.
•    Lead and contribute to safety and process improvement initiatives, ensuring a clean and compliant production environment.
•    Assist in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues as needed, providing technical support to the production team.
•    Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and cleaning materials as required.
•    Must be able to perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods during cleaning and maintenance activities.
•    Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (temperature, noise, etc.) within a production setting.
•    Some duties may vary slightly by location.

Education Qualifications
•    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field (Preferred) 

Experience Qualifications
•    1-3 years In cleaning, sanitization, and preventative maintenance in a relevant industry (preferably in manufacturing or a regulated environment). (Preferred) 
•    1-3 years Strategic planning skills to align cleaning activities with production schedules, minimizing disruptions. (Preferred) 
•    1-3 years Demonstrated leadership skills and a hands-on approach to work, including mechanical competencies for equipment operation and maintenance. (Preferred) 

Skills and Abilities
•    Organizational and inventory management skills, with the ability to maintain supplies and track cleaning activities accurately. (High proficiency)
•    Proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for data management and reporting. (High proficiency)
•    Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. (High proficiency)
•    Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). (High proficiency)
