UT Austin Engineering Expo 2025 - Transportation Interns & EITs (Finance)



The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is looking for Civil Engineering Interns and Entry-Level Engineers (EITs) who want to make an impact in transportation infrastructure. Whether your passion is roadway design, bridges, traffic signalization, or construction inspection, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside industry experts.

As part of our Texas teams in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Plano/Dallas, you'll contribute to projects that shape how communities move, designing safe and efficient roadways, supporting inspection and field services, and applying innovative solutions in civil and transportation engineering.

Our interns and EITs have grown into roles such as: Project Engineers, Roadway Design, Transportation Construction Inspector, Signalization Designer, Bridge Engineer, Transportation Engineer, Survey Technician / Survey Crew Chief, Drainage Engineer.

Your Role:

As an intern or EIT in our transportation group, you'll:

  • Support roadway, drainage, and traffic design projects using Civil 3D or MicroStation
  • Assist with construction field services, including inspections and reporting
  • Prepare design drawings, specs, and cost estimates under guidance of senior engineers
  • Work with survey and inspection teams to see how projects move from concept to reality
  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to solve real engineering challenges

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or completed a B.S. in Civil Engineering (transportation or related focus)
  • EIT certification (or ability to obtain soon) preferred for new grads
  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in transportation is a plus
  • Strong interest in roadway design, traffic, bridges, or construction inspection
  • Familiarity with design software (Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar) a plus
  • Valid driver's license (fieldwork and site visits may be part of the role)
