Library Specialist - MDD (Finance)



This is a front-line position, assisting patrons in the use of the library and its resources. This includes check-out and check-in of resources from the USFHL circulating and reserve collections, room reservations, and event support. Responsible, in conjunction with other USF Health Libraries staff, for processing and delivery of all resource sharing requests received and processed through ILLiad, OCLC Worldshare, UBorrow (Alma), and Docline. Point of contact for answering or referring questions regarding library services received through the Ask-a-Librarian service, telephone, and online chat. Will also be trained as a US Passport Application Acceptance Agent and assist with the Shimberg Library's Passport Application Acceptance Facility.Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma and four years of experience in a customer service environment. Appropriate college coursework may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with integrated library systems used for loaning and returning library materials including reserve items (Circulation module) and processing interlibrary lending and borrowing requests from reciprocal and other collaborative arrangements. The position also requires familiarity with Web browsers (Used to access cloud-based USF systems, including the library catalog and similar databases to research citation information), Microsoft Office (Used for email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.), and ILLiad (a resource sharing management software used to process incoming ILL and document delivery requests). Familiarity with websites and databases like MedlinePlus that cater to the non- medical professional.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.

• (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
• (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree

Includes answering the phone and greeting visitors; aiding patrons in their use of library resources and technology; helping to troubleshoot online access problems; checking out and checking in circulating items, and reserving library spaces. Assists with maintenance and updates to patron lists, Access Services procedures, and library web pages.

Under the direction of the Manager of Library Operations (00002108), assist with all resource sharing, interlibrary loan, and document delivery requests. Includes confirming patron eligibility, determining billing status, researching/correcting citations using library database, confirming copyright clearance, completing some requests and properly routing others. Requires use of integrated library systems, resource sharing management software, library databases and catalog. Complex workflow requires significant attention to detail, and correspondence with patrons (faculty, staff, resident/fellow, and student) and/or staff at other libraries regarding their requests. Receive/process outgoing and incoming materials and notify patrons of availability.

May respond to patron questions/needs received via HealthLibServices@usf.edu , online chat, and Ask-A-Librarian. May refer some questions to other USFHL employees. Responds to or refers to all patron requests for information or assistance on retrieving information. May act as US Passport Application Acceptance Agent.

Primary or backup responsibility for one or more of the following: yearly copyright accounting, monitoring overdue/lost notifications, or maintaining the course reserve collection.
