Fundraising Production Assistant (Marketing)

Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Development Division at GBH supports our public media mission by raising more than $50 million annually through contributions from individuals, foundations, and institutions.

The Membership Department, a team of 24 including consultants and part-time staff, is responsible for raising annual contributions below the $900 level from nearly 190,000 members. This department plays a crucial role in engaging our audience across TV, radio, digital platforms, and events, ensuring a robust foundation of support for GBH's content and services. Our team leverages cutting-edge digital strategies and traditional fundraising methods to achieve success in a rapidly changing media landscape.

The on-air radio fundraising team within GBH Membership is actively engaged with four radio stations – GBH 89.7 NPR member station, WCRB classical music station, CAI NPR member station based in Falmouth, MA and NEPM mixed format station based in Springfield, MA. The team has the responsibility of creating and executing all drive plans to meet revenue goals.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Fundraising Production Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing, coordinating, and executing fifteen on-air fundraising campaigns annually that inspire listener support. You'll collaborate closely with on-air talent, producers, and station leadership to craft compelling messaging, execute strategic fundraising plans, and deliver a seamless listener contributor experience. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of energy and enthusiasm to the role, fostering and supporting a positive environment while actively contributing to team success. The Fundraising Production Assistant has a passion for public radio, a strong understanding of audience engagement and the ability to balance creativity with data-driven strategies to meet and exceed fundraising goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development and dissemination of all pre-radio drive deliverables, including on-air scripting, matching funds tracking, radio traffic rundowns, CRM updates, etc.
  • Oversee the organization of all on-site radio pledge materials, including printed scripts for hosts, on-site premium examples, and related technology.
  • Serve as on-air talent and producer during each radio drive.
  • Assist with scheduling, planning, and executing pledge team meetings, producer meetings, and training sessions.
  • Work with the GBH Membership and Digital teams to draft, edit, and produce fundraising emails related to each drive.
  • Write all legal language for contests and work with the GBH Membership teams to post contest rules. Ensure that rules appear on each online donation form in a timely manner.
  • Write and review localized on-air drive scripts.
  • Plan, write, voice, and produce fundraising development spots for TV and radio to support all GBH Membership efforts.
  • Support TV Pledge pre-drive preparations as backup when needed.
  • Assist in TV studio and field production pre-recorded and live sessions as needed.

SKILL SET

  • Ability to serve as on-air fundraising talent is required.
  • Proven success in planning and executing fundraising campaigns with measurable donor engagement, revenue growth, and retention.
  • Strong on-air presence and persuasive writing skills for both broadcast and digital fundraising.
  • Skilled in collaborating with on-air talent and managing live broadcast operations.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including multitasking, meeting tight deadlines, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Proficient in audio editing software, broadcast systems, and fundraising platforms.
  • Open to constructive feedback and able to provide it effectively.
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 1–2 years of professional experience in fundraising, radio production, or a related field, with a strong preference for public media or nonprofit environments.
