As Director, Category, you are accountable for leading a high-performing team focused on maximizing strategic value and commercial performance across our vendor ecosystem. This isn't about transactional management-it's about building outcomes-based partnerships that drive mutual growth, innovation, and impact across your assigned category.

This leader blends commercial acumen, operational discipline, and visionary thinking to develop vendor strategies that scale revenue, improve margin, and unlock differentiated solutions for our customers. You will serve as a key business driver-connecting vendors to our platform capabilities, accelerating joint GTM initiatives, and ensuring long-term partner health and profitability.

Your role:

Vendor Outcomes Leadership

  • Own end-to-end outcomes across a portfolio of strategic vendors-growth, profitability, market expansion, and joint innovation.
  • Define and execute vendor strategies that align with corporate priorities and platform capabilities.
  • Build scalable joint business plans with top vendors to drive revenue growth, rebate capture, and long-term value.

Strategic Vendor Engagement
  • Conduct executive-level business reviews with vendors to ensure alignment, drive accountability, and surface new growth opportunities.
  • Negotiate agreements focused on performance metrics, co-investment opportunities, and shared outcomes.
  • Lead strategic vendor onboarding, enablement, and lifecycle engagement processes.

Team Development & Coaching
  • Lead and mentor vendor-focused sales and operations managers to execute on vendor growth strategies.
  • Assess talent, coach for impact, and foster a performance culture focused on vendor and customer success.
  • Cultivate a team that proactively identifies vendor whitespace and drives solution-based selling.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to activate vendor programs and scale execution.
  • Partner with Product and Platform teams to ensure vendor alignment with innovation roadmaps and go-to-market efforts.
  • Serve as the vendor advocate across internal teams-championing investment, visibility, and resource allocation.

Operational Excellence
  • Track and report on vendor performance metrics, including revenue contribution, margin impact, program utilization, and co-marketing ROI.
  • Improve internal systems and workflows to scale vendor management and outcomes predictability.
  • Leverage tools, data, and insights to guide decisions and enhance vendor strategy effectiveness.

Time Allocation
  • 30% - Vendor-facing strategy, business reviews, and executive engagement
  • 30% - Internal strategic planning and vendor performance optimization
  • 20% - Team coaching, development, and talent planning
  • 15% - Cross-functional and GTM collaboration
  • 5% - Additional leadership initiatives

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 - 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in vendor management, category leadership, or commercial strategy roles within a platform or channel-driven business.
  • Demonstrated success driving vendor growth and profitability, including rebate, program, and funding optimization.
  • Executive presence and experience conducting high-level vendor reviews and negotiations with key decision-makers of companies is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial levers and performance metrics.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and scale vendor-centric programs.
  • Strong people management experience and leadership skills, preferably managing through direct report managers.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing teams.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $151,200.00 - $264,600.00 per year.

The ranges above reflect the potential annual base pay across the U.S. for all roles; the applicable base pay range will depend on the candidate's primary work location, pay grade, and variable compensation plan. Individual base pay within each range depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time of hire. New hires starting base pay generally falls in the bottom half (between the minimum and midpoint) of a pay range.

At Ingram Micro certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus or sales incentives and long-term incentives. These awards are allocated based on position level and individual performance.
