GM of Sales Development - Aurora, IL (Project Management)



Position Summary

Develop and execute a proactive inside sales strategy that drives forward and facilitates sales operations - including prospecting, lead generation, customer onboarding, and new business development.

Work with other sales departments to implement this plan and to identify short and long-term needs of the organization. Working with executives to plan for the future.

Develop and implement an integrated inside and after-sales strategy from the ground up, encompassing organizational design, role definition, recruitment, and KPI setting. This includes managing the entire sales process—from lead generation, prospecting, and customer onboarding to driving growth through after-sales initiatives. The role also requires leveraging digital transformation expertise to optimize operational efficiency. Collaborate closely with Japan headquarters to ensure strategic alignment, while working with other sales departments and executives to meet short- and long-term organizational needs for sustained success.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for building a dynamic program of proactive inside sales that generates on-going revenue streams, including effective use of the CRM system
  2. Manage the customer success management program within the company
  3. Lead a strategy that uses e-commerce to create engagement, lead generation and recommended configuration selling strategies
  4. Improve and monitor the accuracy and timing of order fulfillment through the development of automated processes
  5. Establish long-term healthy relationships with our customers
  6. Support and enrich our outside sales programs through pre-selling and awareness programs
  7. Create an add on sales program by promoting services, accessories, parts, education and support to users
  8. Collaborate with other departments to align efforts to improve product position and outreach programs such as customer experience management and digital marketing
  9. Effectively analyze company sales data to monitor the performance of business development activities
  10. Recommend sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
  11. Assist with the creation of future roles that will further the goals of the organization.
  12. Build a proactive inside sales program leveraging CRM to generate continuous revenue streams.
  13. Lead the strategy, launch, and management of the customer success program to enhance satisfaction and revenue.
  14. Define requirements, implement, and manage e-commerce systems to drive engagement, lead generation, and product configuration strategies.
  15. Improve order fulfillment accuracy through automated processes.
  16. Establish long-term, healthy customer relationships.
  17. Support outside sales with pre-selling and awareness programs.
  18. Build an add-on sales program promoting services, accessories, parts, education, and support.
  19. Collaborate with other departments to enhance product positioning and customer outreach via digital marketing and customer experience management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible to manage employees engaged in sales and support activities.  Hire, train, assist employees, enforce company policies, resolve ordinary difficulties, establish per­formance stan­dards, and evaluate employee performance.

 

Work Environment:  Office Environment.

 

Physical Demands: The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. 

Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 5:00PM. Flexible work hours required on a periodic basis.

 

Travel: Minimal overnight travel from time to time. Maximum travel 10%.

 

Required Education and Experience:  Four year degree or equivalent education; five+ years' experience.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in either Business, Marketing, and IT;
  • 2 years of experience in sales management, customer success, or a related role.
  • Proven experience in developing sales strategies, managing teams, and driving digital transformation.
  • Experience with CRM systems, e-commerce platforms, system implementation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and implementing digital transformation initiatives.
