Senior Accountant (Project Management)



Schedule
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three (3) days in-office based out of our West Sacramento office and two (2) days working remotely.

Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to step into our Senior Accountant position. This role performs the majority of general ledger accounting, including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts and maintaining the integrity of financial records. Reporting directly to the Director, Accounting, the Senior Accountant also serves as a lead for Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), reviewing the work of A/P and A/R staff to ensure accuracy, compliance and adherence to internal policies.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of GAAP and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Senior Accountant will also contribute to audits, budgeting and cross-departmental support in a fast-paced and collaborative environment; performs a variety of other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform general ledger activities, including preparing/posting journal entries and reconciling key accounts.Investigate and resolve account discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closes.Prepare financial documentation and work papers to support annual audit processes.Support the development of annual budgets and ongoing financial reporting needs.Act as lead for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, reviewing transactions for accuracy, coding and compliance.Mentor and provide guidance to A/P and A/R Specialists to drive performance and meet departmental goals.Assist in resolving complex customer billing and vendor payment issues.Ensure internal controls and company policies are consistently followed.Provide financial and accounting support to other departments and senior leadership.Assist in process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and accuracy.Maintain confidentiality, uphold organizational values and promote a professional work environment.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.CPA, CMA, or CPA candidate preferred.Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience performing complex accounting tasks and supporting management.Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance.Experience in A/P and A/R process oversight and transaction review.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.Proven ability to identify and correct financial discrepancies.Strong time management skills with the ability to meet recurring deadlines.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to evolving priorities.Experience in process improvement and workflow optimization.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders clearly and concisely.Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors and auditors.This position is contingent on the ability to pass a background and credit check upon accepting an offer.Employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds, hand truck available to assist.Must be able to sit at computer for long periods of time and have the dexterity to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator, and operate standard office equipmentEmployee is personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines, instructions, and policies.Work occasional extended hours during peak periods (may include weekends and holidays). Limited vacation during peak periods.
