Tax Analyst (Finance)

Job Summary:

Under general direction, responsible for the preparation of key calculations necessary for Medline's global tax provision and financial reporting, including the quarterly and annual tax provisions, SOX internal control requirements, and management of Medline's global tax provision software. The position will require interaction with the tax team, corporate accounting group, financial analysis, local controllers, and external service providers.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and ensure completeness and accuracy of tax accounts of all legal entities, including the review of domestic and international, partnership, and C corporation tax provisions prepared in OneSource Tax Provision software. Assemble, analyze and organize data to provide to external advisors/auditors for quarterly reporting, including various federal, international, and state related data.  Proactively work with corporate accounting group and local controllers to obtain data required for the tax provision.
  • Assist in preparation of US, State, & Foreign Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740) for global consolidated financial reporting. This includes assisting in the preparation of numerous book vs. tax differences and global roll-up of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with a diverse range of tax planning, structuring, compliance, research, and audit activities, including analyzing the impact of new tax laws and proposed legislation, analyzing the impact of such proposed restructurings and/or acquisitions, and assisting with reporting for various tax incentives.
  • Perform research and analysis related to tax reporting implications of new business initiatives as well as support projects to improve tax processes and enhance efficiencies including utilization of OneSource Tax Provision software for US GAAP income tax accounting and reporting.
  • Ownership of assigned projects/tasks, including communication of project status with appropriate documentation and regular follow-up until projects are complete, and collaboration with the broader tax team.

Candidates should be organized, motivated, a self-starter, detail oriented, able to multitask/work in a quick paced/deadline-oriented environment, work well with others, have a strong work ethic, able to communicate effectively with all levels, by telephone, e-mail and letter and be professional in appearance and demeanor.

Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).

Knowledge of pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP functions (a plus but not required).

Preferred Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

CPA

Master's degree in taxation (MST) or J.D..

Relevant Work Experience

1+ years of broad experience with knowledge in Accounting for Income Taxes (ASC 740).

Additional

Experience with accounting for income taxes, partnership taxation, and international tax compliance preferred. 

Experience with One Source Tax Provision and SAP/Oracle.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$68,640.00 - $99,320.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
