Sr. Software Engineer (Finance)

Position Description:

Sr. Software Engineer for Covidien LP (a Medtronic company) located in Boston, MA. Responsible for the development of software for commercially available medical products following defined regulatory processes including IEC62304. Responsible for the development of software features for surgical instruments. Create software requirements using requirements engineering practices and requirements flow-down practices. Develop software in C/C++, focus in object-oriented and functional programming and implementation of state machines. Develop software using common tools on Linux, including Bash shell, Cmake building, unit testing, static analysis, debugging, and source control using Git. Create software architecture using concept engineering practices, state machine diagrams, sequence diagrams, and UML diagrams. Work collaboratively using Agile practices, git, Atlassian Jira, and Atlassian Bitbucket. Develop software using Python, QT and QML, leveraging operating systems and compilation. Investigate CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Action), identify software defects, propose software improvements and risk mitigation. Develop software for surgical robotics, including robotic transformation, kinematics, manipulation, navigation, real-time motion control and path planning. #LI-DNI

Requires up to 25% domestic and international travel to Connecticut and Germany.

*Position works a hybrid model and will be onsite in Boston, MA, three (3) days per week. Relocation assistance not provided.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a Master's degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related engineering or technical field and two (2) years of experience as a software engineer or in software engineering. Must possess at least two (2) years of experience with each of the following: developing software for medical products following regulatory processes including IEC62304 with surgical instruments; developing software in C/C++, object-oriented and functional programming and implementation of state machines; software development tools on Linux, including Bash shell, CMake building, unit testing, static analysis, debugging, and source control using Git; software architecture for engineering practices, state machine diagrams, sequence diagrams, and UML diagrams; Agile practices, Git, Atlassian Jira, and Atlassian Bitbucket; developing software in Python using Qt and QML; investigating CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Action), identify defects, propose software improvements and risk mitigation; and surgical robotics, robotic transformation, kinematics, manipulation, navigation, real-time motion control and path planning. Salary: $148,000 to $183,600 per year
