Manufacturing Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift) (Engineering)
Position Summary
This is an on-site position in North Kingstown, RI
As a Maintenance Technician for the North Kingstown site, this person will be responsible for providing engineering and technical support for all Personalization and insertion machinery with regards to Health & Safety, Quality and Productivity. The intervention could be a corrective or preventive action to the equipment. As part of the duties of this position, this person will be managing projects for cost reduction, spare parts inventory and maintenance KPI improvements. At the same time, it is expected as a Maintenance Engineer to work on process improvement projects, new product or machine qualification being responsible for completing the corresponding CMB process for each change and ensure proper documentation and training is completed.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Maintain Personalization and insertion equipment to provide safe, reliable & efficient production, while adhering to all OSHA regulations/policies.
Perform root cause analysis to provide optimum up-time of Perso equipment doing the appropriate repairs according to the analysis.
Create documentation and provide instruction to production operators on machine operation and basic maintenance on their different levels (TPM).
Liaise with equipment suppliers to undertake machinery diagnostics / upgrades and modifications as well as to place purchase orders for spare parts.
Assist in the control / management of spare parts while ensuring the database is up to date.
Escalate all issues of downtime to the Maintenance Manager or Production Team Leader and enter details of maintenance and downtime on the corresponding maintenance ticket.
Ensure continual high standards of housekeeping.
Work on new machine qualification attending time line and cost requirements.
Work on process improvement projects including the proper documentation (CMB) and training utilizing TWI methodology.
Work on problem solving projects utilizing lean manufacturing methodologies.
Provide Technical Support to other Thales Perso facilities that shares the same Perso technology.
Work on specific projects related to the maintenance area like spare parts cost reduction, spare parts inventory and maintenance KPI improvements (MTBF, availability and machine downtime).
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor degree completed preferably in Mechanical, Electronics or Computer Systems Engineering
Experience minimum of +2 years on the lead/coordinator Maintenance position and +5 year experience working on maintenance department providing support machinery on electronic, pneumatic and mechanical support.
Proven Engineering/Technical grounding in mechanical, pneumatic and electrical disciplines.
Ability to identify faults quickly and provide prompt support to solve problems.
Intermediate computer skills.
Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
It would be preferred if you have knowledge of Datacard / Bell & Howell / Pitney Bowes / Matica / Persomaster machinery, as well as fault finding at board level and a good understanding of computer hardware / architecture.
Fluent in English.
Willingness to learn and support new equipment, as well as has the ability to travel occasionally to support other Thales Perso sites.
