Assistant Professor - Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Energy Systems (Finance)
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or A.B.D.) in business, engineering, or economics, and exhibit promises for the highest-quality academic research. We seek candidates with strong potential for, or a demonstrated record of, securing external research funding in areas related to AI, energy systems, and digital innovation. The successful candidate will pursue impactful, interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of AI and energy, encompassing but not limited to business model innovation, responsible and ethical AI deployment, carbon and broader environmental market forecasting, sustainable energy transitions, and the integration of digital technologies in energy policy, operations, and market design.
Department: This PFF position will have primary appointment with the Decision and Information Sciences (DISC), C.T. Bauer College of Business, and a courtesy appointment with the Cullen College of Engineering. The C.T. Bauer College of Business is AACSB accredited with over 6000 undergraduate and 900 graduate students pursuing BBA, MBA, Executive MBA, Masters in accountancy, finance, energy management, marketing and supply chain degrees; and PhD. The PhD program has seen a substantial uplift in quality in recent years. The DISC department has 20 tenured or tenure-track faculty members belonging to the broader disciplines of Operations Management (OM) and Information Systems (IS) and engage in cutting edge research in areas that include sustainability, healthcare, AI, platform design and supply chain.
