In this role, you will:

  • Lead fundamental research and applied technologies that support Kimberly-Clark's global innovation strategies in skin health.
  • Involved in various leadership responsibilities, including identifying and delivering technical and innovative solutions aligned with current and emerging global business needs, effectively collaborating with business units and cross-functional teams, and maintaining awareness of technological and competitive developments.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive team environment, be knowledgeable about business needs, and proficiently translate complex technical content for non-technical audiences.
  • Lead and conduct in-vitro, bench and/or clinical research to identify or develop technologies that are consumer-centric and aim to enhance existing product forms and/or create new profitable business opportunities for the enterprise.
  • Contribute as a research team member or lead Life Sciences research projects which may span from conception through commercialization with cross-functional global partners.
  • Collaborate with technical and business leaders (marketing, R&E, sales), internal or external subject matter experts, to conduct basic and applied research that delivers meaningful skin technologies that support business goals in skin health.
  • Translate fundamental science and technology through literature research, robust in vitro screening, and in vivo studies. Secure intellectual property to protect technologies, processes, materials, and products through the appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
  • Deliver external publications consistent with intellectual asset strategies to increase Kimberly-Clark's technical reputation and open innovation excellence.
  • Conduct all communications and transactions with integrity and honesty to establish and maintain a solid business reputation.
  • Ensure effective communication of project plans/results to partners, customers, and team members.
  • Contribute to an environment where all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to advance business results.

In one of our manufacturing roles, you'll focus on winning with consumers and the market, while putting safety, mutual respect, and human dignity at the center. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

Required:

  • PhD degree in Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a major Biological Science related field from an accredited college or university with 3+ years of relevant industry experience in skin health research. Conversely, an MS degree in a related field with 6+ years of relevant industry experience or a BS degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • A proven track record of successfully conducting and leading technical aspects of innovative life science research projects.
  • Expert level knowledge of cell and tissue research techniques: Cell culture techniques, in vitro tissue constructs, ex vivo models, nucleic acid isolation, (qRT-PCR), development of genomic constructs, flow cytometry, signal transduction mechanisms, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and data analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing innovative methodologies, achieving protocol standardization, and conducting rigorous data analysis to produce reliable results.
  • Experience conducting in-vivo research for developing fundamental information and the evaluation of innovative technologies.
  • A demonstrated ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage diversity and function as a mentor for junior scientists, acting as a role model in the application of the scientific method to solve problems of importance for Kimberly-Clark.
  • Demonstrated track record of documenting results and protecting inventions through patent filings and other forms of intellectual property.
  • Demonstrated continuous personal improvement in scientific and leadership skills through staying current with relevant technical literature, attending classes, conferences, industry consortiums, university forums, and other forms of scientific and leadership growth.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate complex technical information to a diverse audience including team members, cross-functional teams, business and marketing leaders.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated initiative in proposing and developing recommendations for new research programs that align with corporate goals and objectives.  
  • Proficiency in computer coding (R, Python, JMP) for analyzing large data sets (bioinformatics) and familiarity with biostatistical concepts.
  • Expertise in epithelial cell (skin) biology, including transcriptomics, epigenetics and cell signaling mechanisms.
  • Proficient in utilizing primary cell culture, co-cultures, and an in vitro tissue construct to screen technologies to predict clinical performance.
  • Proven track record in driving skin health innovation by leveraging AI and sensor-based research.
  • In-depth knowledge and research experience driving product innovation in disposable consumer products and/or skin care products.
  • Multilingual skills are highly valued.

Salary Range: 105,740 – 130,620 USD

At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
