Principal Software QA Engineer (Finance)



TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Principal Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary: The Principal Software QA Engineer serves as a technical and strategic leader within the QA team, driving the design, implementation, and execution of comprehensive testing strategies to ensure product quality and system reliability. This role will be responsible for defining best practices, mentoring QA team members, driving test automation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including development, DevOps, product management, and customer support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Define and drive the overall QA strategy and vision in alignment with project and organizational goals
  • Own end-to-end quality for complex features or product areas-from requirements gathering through release
  • Log and manage defects using issue tracking tools, and assist in determining prioritization and resolution
  • Collaborate with the automation team to design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable test automation frameworks
  • Create formal test scripts and participate in onsite test execution alongside customers when required
  • Provide clear and detailed reporting on test execution, results, defect status, and overall QA progress
  • Coordinate closely with QA leadership and Project Managers to ensure test plans and defect updates are communicated accurately and timely
  • Serve as a technical mentor and coach for QA engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development
  • Champion continuous improvement of QA tools, processes, and methodologies to drive efficiency and quality
  • Stay current with emerging trends in software testing, QA technologies, and industry best practices
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in in Computer Science or Engineering and/or equivalent proven work experience

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Maintains a professional image and adheres to standards consistent with company policies and procedures
  • 10 years of experience in software Quality Assurance, software test engineering or software development
  • 2 years of experience in the tolling industry or transportation technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with branch, regional and corporate personnel
  • Experience in Agile - SCRUM, Dev Ops environment
  • Knowledge of Software QA best practices and methodologies
  • Experience with communication tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc
  • Expert proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, OneNote, and Google Docs
  • Experience testing customer facing websites and payment processing
  • Experience testing 3rd party interfaces (DMV lookup, money service providers, etc)
