Benefits Specialist (Finance)



Job Description

The Benefits Specialist is accountable for administering the Badger benefits plans including 401k, Medical, HSA, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life and Flexible Spending Accounts. This position acts as a point of contact for team members, vendors, and brokers for the benefit plans.

Compensation for this role will be commensurate based on education and/or experience.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manages all aspects of benefits administration including open enrollment, new hire onboarding, life events, terminations, and beneficiary changes.
  • Sets up and maintains enrollment tools within the payroll system, supports related communications and presentations, and responds to team member benefit inquiries.
  • Assists manager and insurance broker with the annual renewal process, including identifying potential plan changes or new benefits, reviewing current and prospective vendor options and associated fees, and evaluating premium adjustments.
  • Conducts internal audits to reconcile records and maintain consistent, accurate data across platforms.
  • Manages 401(k) programs including weekly contributions, loan payments, invoice processing, and feed error corrections.
  • Reviews and processes QDROs, hardship withdrawals, and home purchase loans; assists with compliance testing and participant questions.

What We're Looking For
  • Education bachelor's degree in business administration, Management or Human Resources would be preferred, or a combination or the equivalent work experience.
  • 4+years' experience in Benefits administration for a publicly traded North American organization preferred.

What You'll Need For Success
  • Expertise inUS and/or Canadianbenefits.
  • Knowledge of related government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income. Security act (ERISA), FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and other applicable labor laws and regulations.
  • The role requires mobility within work environments, use of office equipment, lifting up to 20 pounds, clear vision and hearing, effective communication skills, and occasional travel for meetings and training sessions.
