General Accounting Director- NA (Finance)

Role description:

The General Accounting Director is a key member of the Accounting Pillar team and works closely together with our Global Business process officers, Global business Area Controllers, Treasury, Global enabling function, Tax and manage the North American Accounting teams to meet deliverables. This role will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the accounting operations within the country and north America. The role is accountable for developing and implementing accounting policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and ensure execution of the organization's financial strategy. This candidate will be a strong multitasker and team player. You will also drive reliable financial outcomes from ERP systems, participate in finance transformation projects, and ensure efficient internal and external reporting. Lead and drive global deployment and adoption of process and ensuring harmonization of best practices.

The General Accounting Director directly to the Onshore Reporting & Accounting Director.

Role accountabilities:

  • The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Process Design alignment:
  • Accountable for aligning, implementing, and maintaining best-in-class accounting policies, processes and practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards
  • Oversee the design and implementation of robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Drive the use of technology and digital innovation in the specific area of discipline.
  • Support the Oracle and Enterprise applications implementation with general accounting expertise. Process Delivery:
  • Review and sign-off country financial results, ensuring expectations have been aligned and communicated with the relevant stakeholders (e.g. GBA Finance)
  • Oversee completion of audit engagements to ensure timely completion and ensure lessons learned are captured to improve future audits.
  • Collaboration with Tax-on-tax accounting and tax compliance deliverables.
  • Anticipate needs, assess and manage business risk taking; escalate issues that may impact the process globally; manage through times of crisis and ambiguity
  • Drive productivity improvement and innovation in partnership with stakeholders (Tech, Procurement, Tax, People, Finance Transformation, and GSSC). People and Stakeholder Management
  • Provide strategic direction, guidance, and support to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and priorities.
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective communication.
  • Engage with other Finance functions to create the right visibility for the team and explore appropriate opportunities to utilizing their skills.
  • Understand future capability needs and build talent in this are.
  • Develop a culture of success, continuous improvement, and innovation within the area of discipline

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance/ Chartered Qualification.
  • 10+ years' experience in similar financial background
  • Current knowledge and understanding of accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Financial controllership experience.
  • Provide strategic direction, guidance, and support to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and priorities.
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective communication.
  • Engage with other Finance functions to create the right visibility for the team and explore appropriate opportunities to utilizing their skills
  • Understand future capability needs and build talent in this area

  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
  • Proactive and a committed team player.
  • Can work under pressure and minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience in Oracle Cloud.
  • Results oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout organization and build effective relationships.
  • Can work on flexible hours to meet changing work environment and to meet deadlines.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $146,937 - $195,965. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location. Apply
