Director, Health Economic Outcomes Research (Remote) (Finance)

Position Summary:

At Illumina, we are dedicated to improving human health by unlocking the power of the genome. As the Director, Health Economic Outcomes Research, you will support global access strategies for our portfolio of molecular diagnostic solutions in oncology, adult and pediatric genetic disease, reproductive health, among a portfolio of innovative testing solutions. Your work will help ensure that individuals and families around the world can benefit from access to genomic insights.

In collaboration with product and regional management, the Director of HEOR will design, develop, oversee and/or execute HEOR and Market Access projects, programs, and publications in support of existing and new clinical applications. This will be done in coordination with Global Commercial, Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regional Market Access and the US and International/Affiliates. This individual will be a subject matter expert (SME) in building and translating data-driven evidence into clinical, economic, and societal value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the numerous Illumina departments to ensure appropriate and timely integration of all relevant HEOR and payer evidence into clinical trials and regulatory filings to maximize the US, EU, and Asian/ Middle East/ Emerging Markets applications and submissions.
  • Support global market access strategies for molecular diagnostic solutions including client and ecosystem facing partnerships and internal development processes.
  • Ensure that appropriate global quantitative research and health economic modeling (both prospective and RWD-driven) are undertaken to develop an integrated global approach for maximizing launch positioning and sustained market access.
  • Align with modeling and micro-costing resources and advise as the company expands this capability.
  • Collaboratively develop and execute a comprehensive and compelling publication plan as a part of a multi-stakeholder targeted publication strategy to appropriately disseminate value messages and evidence.
  • Partner with regional and country Teams to act to secure reimbursement and access in key markets, addressing diverse payer requirements and Health Technology Assessment processes. This includes participation in coalitions and industry groups to progress testing access.
  • Aid in monitoring global policy trends, HTA requirements, and payer expectations related to molecular diagnostic testing to inform strategic planning and product development.
  • In collaboration with regional Market Access, build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including payers, HTA bodies, advocacy groups, and policy makers.
  • Maintain positive working relationships across key channels including customers, distributors, and core laboratories. Support Commercial and Marketing in engagements including meetings, conferences, and symposiums.
  • Provide strategic input into product development, launch planning, customer channel considerations and lifecycle management to align with access and commercialization goals. Provide guidance on realization of value of emerging Illumina technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with company, international regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (GC, MBA, MPH, PhD, or related) preferred.
  • 18+ years of experience in clinical setting, market access, reimbursement, and/or health economics, with a strong focus on molecular diagnostics with 10 years of Management.
  • Proven success in HEOR publications (e.g. value demonstration, HEOR, Patient Reported Outcomes) and evidence strategy supporting market access strategies in diagnostics and/or biopharma.
  • Understanding of reimbursement systems, HTA processes, and payer decision-making across major markets.
  • Experience with molecular diagnostics and precision medicine applications.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Ability to manage budgets, vendors, and consultants.
  • Passion for improving lives through access to genomic technologies.

The estimated base salary range for the Director, Health Economic Outcomes Research (Remote) role based in the United States of America is: $201,100 - $301,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
