Research Technician 2 - Vision Sciences (Finance)
1. Ensures experiments are preformed according to specification.
2. May make practical technical recommendations to changes in procedures, equipment, or prototype design.
3. Applies basic skill and develops advanced skills.
4. Often assists with, and may perform, some advanced functions.
5. Solves most routine problems while referring more complex questions to higher levels.
6. Receives direct supervision but is expected to select from a variety of standard procedures to complete tasks.
Additional Job Duties:
Under the guidance of the principal investigator, the Research Technician 2 will be responsible for maintaining a mouse colony, including tagging, breeding, weaning and genotyping animals, and keeping accurate logs. Additional basic lab skills such as performing PCR reactions to genotype animals will be needed. The incumbent will also contribute to maintaining lab operations, perform research procedures employing cell culture, and other activities as needed. Breeds and genotypes mice to produce animals needed for research. Maintains accurate records of the mouse colony. Performs research procedures including PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, and experiments with cultured cells. Maintains operations of the research laboratory. May perform experiments with research animals as needed.
REQUIREMENTS: Well-qualified candidates will have the following qualifications/ experience:
Bachelor's Degree (preferred but not required).
1 year research experience (preferred).
Experience handling mice is required.
Experience with cell culture desired.
Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
MQ: Associate's Degree with 6 months experience.
