Area Director of Engineering (Finance)



Job Description Summary

The Area Engineering Director (ED) is the onsite leader of building, equipment and grounds condition of three Atlanta-based Hotels. This position will lead and/or perform maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance, to all areas of the hotel. The ED is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized maintenance shop and for the security of the hotel inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The ED's focus on guest and associate satisfaction, expense control and product quality and will lead to their contribution to the overall goals of the hotel.

Job Description

For home property:

  • Oversee activities of employees in the Maintenance Department and Overnight Security , including scheduling and payroll .

  • Perform maintenance and repair work on the interior and exterior of buildings, hotels rooms, and contents, Laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, and water treatment systems, and swimming pool if a pplicable . Ensure that equipment is prepared and operational for the following day's work.

  • Ensure preventive maintenance on guestrooms and equipment is completed as outlined in the preventive maintenance program .

  • Maintain data for the property in Transcendent and ensure tasks are assigned appropriately to maintain GREEN status for the property.

  • Monitor and secure inventory. Follow established ordering procedures to replenish supplies and inventory. Minimize waste.

  • Inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies, or threats to the security of guests, employees, or hotel assets.

  • Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.

  • Provide input on the annual department operating and property capital budget s .

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.

  • A ssist with other duties as assigned.

In addition, this role is responsible for supporting (either remote or in-person) the Maintenance Managers of the identified properties .

Accountability:

This is the lead role for the Maintenance Department at the home hotel and may directly supervise or provide leadership to 3-5 maintenance workers. This role has additional responsibility to oversee the activities of the Maintenance Manager of the identified properties in the area .

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :

Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional certification and license required by law.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying, lifting, pushing and/or pulling items weighing up to 100 pounds.

  • Frequently standing up and moving about the facility

  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility .

  • Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and crawling.

Other

  • Specialized knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics.

  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with other supervisors, hotel staff and guests.

  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized to document or record all tasks completed, to order supplies, to receive their instructions for the day and/or to read equipment manuals.

  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently .

  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivation , organizational and training abilities are used often .

  • May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays.
