The Field Service Manager provides expert advice and performs short-and long-term planning Reports to the VP Manufacturing Process Development / Sales Manager and makes recommendations that are in the best interest of Northwest Pipe Company.  The Field Service Manager will perform complex supervisory, administrative and professional work in planning, organizing, and overseeing all field services within all 3 plants in Texas including Houston, Ferris and San Antonio. Provides expertise to internal and external customers relative to the finished products and evaluates the internal and external customer needs by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing and leading field service technicians, including scheduling, training, resource planning and performance management. 
  • Planning, coordinating, and overseeing field service activities, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with customers, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues.
  •  Managing inventory, travel, and expenses for the field service team.
  •  Identifying and implementing improvements to field service processes, such as workflow optimization and technology implementation.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and providing regular reports to management.
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to field service technicians.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Acts as field liaison between Company, Contractor and Field Inspector.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and job specifications to ensure work performs in accordance.
  • Analyzes issues that affect company products and resolves matters in the best interest of the company.
  • Technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Oversee and perform onsite repair/replacement estimates and negotiate solutions that represent the best interest of the company.
  • Determine applicable codes, regulations, and requirements for assigned projects.
  • Travels as needed to installation sites as a representative of the company to ensure proper delivery procedures are being followed according to the work order, construction and engineering standards.
  • Work with sales teams on scheduling startups, backflow certifications, and warranty repairs.
  • Obtain inspection sign-off, customer sign-off, and monitor final invoicing preparation.
  • Communicate any issues to the Director of Operations, Sales Director and/or VPGM as needed.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Dispatch, vendors, and customers regarding matters related to field service.
  • Support logistics team with field support on delivery of company products.
  • Oversee and participate in job site assessments to identify needs for specific jobs including knowledge of pumps/valves/fittings/ and controls.

 

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

·         This position may interact within all levels of the Northwest Pipe organization.  Additionally, this position may have contact with business partners, customers, vendors, visitors and / or government agencies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, and the general public.
  • Strong professional written and oral communication skills

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 
  •       Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY 

  •  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or ten plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  5+ years of field service management experience required.
  • Experience using scheduling cloud platforms is (preferred)
  •  Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC: 10 years (Preferred)
  • OSHA 30 certification (Preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • US work authorization (Preferred)
